When I first arrived in February, Erma's mom suggested that I come visit the first weekend in April, when the cherry trees (
beotnamu 벚나무) would be at their peak.
She was right. Yesterday, the day we went
hiking on Namsan was the peak moment of bloom. Today a few petals were just starting to fall. Erma's dad and I took a stroll through a beautiful park not far from their apartment to admire the scenery. It was full of lovers and families out strolling and picnicking. Here are a few photos.

I can't remember if the cherry blossoms in Washington D.C. look this white and soft.

This tree is a different species -- possibly a weeping cherry tree (
shidarezakura しだれざくら in Japanese).
