Bento

Here are some of the lunches I've eaten over the past week.

Can you identify the non-Japanese one?

Monday:

Thursday:

The picture above shows what the bento lunch looks like when I walk out of the campus convenience store.  There are two workers behind the counter, one operates the cash register, and the other sticks a pair of chopsticks to your lunch with the piece of blue tape that means "this item has been paid for".

Heading off to Taiwan for a week -- blog posting may or may not slow down while I'm away ...

  1. I think Wednesday is not Japanese. Have fun in Taiwan.

  2. Friday's lunch is the Korean dish bibimbap 비빔밥
. The Japanese label says 牛肉ビビンバ丼弁当 "beef bibimba-don bento". I like the way they add the Japanese word "don" -- meaning a dish served atop steamed rice -- to the borrowed Korean word bibimbap, which already has rice ("bap") in it.
